By Doug   Posted at  12:58 PM   No comments
When: Sat, Nov 16, 2013 | 9:00 AM
Where: Shepard Park Beach, Lake George, NY
Cost: Spectators - FREE
Plunging into icy waters is an age-old tradition here in Lake George. On Saturday, November 16, 2013, that tradition continues at Shepard Park Beach with the Special Olympics Lake George Polar Plunge
PLEASE NOTE: This is a separate event from the annual New Years Day Polar Plunge Swim in Lake George

Freezin'...For What Reason?!

Hundreds of people take the plunge each year in Lake George and at different locations around the state to raise funds for the Special Olympics New York. These daring participants help by showing their support for the Special Olympics and raising money for the organization.
Many form teams and have fun with it. The goal is to get friends, family, colleagues and other donors to sponsor your plunge, ultimately raising thousands of dollars to help the Special Olympics reach their fundraising goal, which this year is the $1 million mark.
And a few...incentives, for those hesitant to dip their toes in the water. If a participant raises $100 to take the Plunge they'll receive an official Polar Plunge sweatshirt - and more incentives for higher fund-raising levels!

Don't Forget...

Some Important Things To Remember Before Taking The Plunge
  • Pack a towel and water shoes
  • Wear your swimsuit under your clothes
  • Bring easy to get into warm clothes (and shoes!) for after the Plunge
  • For your own safety, never dive into the water
  • Bring a plastic bag for wet clothes, and somewhere to store your dry clothes
  • Bring along a disposable, waterproof camera
  • Have fun

Best Wordpress Hosting Provider

By Doug   Posted at  10:42 AM   difficulty adding a wordpress plugin 2 comments
If you have a wordpress site and are searching for hosting, I wanted to let you know over the years I've dealt with a few.  If your somewhat new and need questions to be answered then I recommend Hostgator.
Link Direct to Order Page  They have some of the best people in the industry to do business with.  They are a 5 star web hosting provider that can help you get your wordpress site up and running.  Are you having difficulty adding a wordpress plugin?  There are many ways you can add a wp plugin through hostgator.

I've actually had to call them myself on numerous occasions because I've made mistakes over the years, and YES it's going to happen to you also.  The term newbie really applies to everyone who wants to buy a profitable blog or website and needs professional hosting customer service.  It's very affordable and the options are immense.  You also need a email to go along with your site, if your like me and need assistance setting up a email for your site then this is the place to go.  You can go to web hosting review sites and they will all tell you different things, on what hosting they recommend.  But I've been in the website development side for a number of years.  Having gone with another company my first 7 years-I was very unhappy, mainly with the help and customer service side of things.  So I switched to hostgator and have been very happy since.  It does'nt matter what kind of site you have, these guys are prolific in what they do.  Like I said everyone is going to make mistakes, and the amount of money you will pay for hosting here is minimal plus your getting their expertise!  You can't go wrong!  They have a 24 hour support team so it could be any time of the day your site is going haywire and they are there to help.  Personally they are my 5 star web hosting provider and I do appreciate the help they've given me over the years.

He has appeared in hundreds of TV shows since, usually playing a father, grandfather or other authority figure.
Date of Birth

4) John Sayles-Writer For Lonestar

A bright child, John Sayles began reading novels before age 9. A Williams grad in 1972, he shunned a corporate career to work various blue-collar jobs, moving to east Boston to take a factory job. He wrote stories and submitted them to various magazines, and the Atlantic Monthly gave him the idea of publishing them in a novel--thus "Pride of the Bimbos" (1975) was born.

In the late 1970s he worked for renowned low-budget producer Roger Corman as a screenwriter. He saved much of the money he earned from that job, got some friends together and made Return of the Secaucus Seven (1979) in 25 days. Altough it was a hit, he had trouble obtaining financing for the films he wanted to make because he would not give up his right of final cut. Baby It's You (1983) was Sayles' only film made under studio control.

In 1983 the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship granted him a tax-free income of $32,000 a year for 5 years. That stipend and money he earned for writing such films as The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986), Enormous Changes at the Last Minute (1983) and Breaking In (1989) enabled him to make the kinds of films he wanted to make. Lone Star (1996) placed Sayles in the ranks of top American filmmakers. In it and his other films, a broadly appealing social consciousness emerges, showing Sayles to be concerned with what's going on with regional cultures, national values and what living in the US is like today. Sayles and Maggie Renzi, whom he met during college, have lived together since the 1970s, splitting their time between a Hoboken, NJ, house and a farm in upstate New York. They have no plans to marry.

Date of Birth
28 September 1950, Schenectady, New York, USA

In addition to acting in these New York shows, Deborah also acted in regional and touring company productions of "A View from the Bridge", "Mooney's Kid Don't Cry" and "The Children's Hour". Deborah Van Valkenburgh's big acting break came when she played the role of "Jackie Rush" on the hit ABC series "Too Close for Comfort" (1980).

Deborah has studied acting with William Esper and John Shea, ballet with Ballet Arts Carnegie Hall, modern dance with James Cunningham, puppet production with Jim Henson of "The Muppet Show" (1976) fame, voice with Kirk Nurock and Richard Green, and improvisation with Daniel Richter.

From there she decided to try Hollywood. Anne has also played many parts on stage including "The Women", "Twelfth Night", "Dark Of The Moon", and others. She made her professional stage debut in a 1995 Shakespeare Theater production of "Macbeth" in Washington, DC, and starred in Sam Shepard's one-act play "Chicago", for New York's Signature Theater, in 1996. She appeared Off-Broadway in "Edmond" and starred as Helena in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. She has also worked in theater with Anna Deavere Smith, Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory and made her feature-film debut with a brief role as a process server in the romantic comedy Fools Rush In (1997).

Her wide eyes, expressive features and commanding presence make for an enviable appeal, and helped her land a regular role as Dr. Helen Reynolds on the hit NBC drama "Providence" (1999), less than four years after her professional stage debut. As a tough and uncompromising medico, Silva offered impressive work, her skillful portrayal nuanced enough to keep the character from treading into the two-dimensional stereotype of the hard-nosed and ambitious African-American woman all too familiar on contemporary television.

Her previous television credits include guest appearances on the CBS sitcom "Cosby" (1996) in 1997 and as a nun on a 1998 two-part episode of NBC's police drama "Homicide: Life on the Street" (1993).

Erick's first production was organized, individually produced, and personally funded within 8 months, followed by four more film projects, including the feature film he also stars in, Loaded (2007/I), now available in stores and on line at Blockbuster and Netflix.

His decision to enter the film industry full time was made after he decided to make a clean break from corporate America and focus his business talents and creative energy in the film industry, as was his primary passion since 1986, when a casting director approached him and asked for a screen test, landing him the lead in a series of Pizza Hut commercials with Rich Hall .

Erick has also had several principal commercial roles, produced and appeared in several films shot from Los Angeles to Dallas, as well as appearing on "Prison Break"  (2005) as Agent Hara.

Producing seems to be the backbone of Erick's creative strengths as he's preparing to air two new original programs this spring, titled "Beyond the Velvet Rope" starring the Krupa Sisters Joanna Krupa and Marta Krupa, and "Critical Diagnosis" hosted by Leeza Gibbons. Most recently off the heels of shooting the 30-year reunion for the hit series "Dallas" (1978), and Larry Hagman, Erick's focus moving forward will most likely be producing, writing, and directing original works with his wife 'Julie J. Gosse'.

Erick looks forward to his Directorial film debut this summer in the collaborative script penned by he and his wife, Julie J. Gosse, titled "Trepidation".
