Plunging into icy waters is an age-old tradition here in Lake George. On Saturday, November 16, 2013, that tradition continues at Shepard Park Beach with the Special Olympics Lake George Polar Plunge
Many form teams and have fun with it. The goal is to get friends, family, colleagues and other donors to sponsor your plunge, ultimately raising thousands of dollars to help the Special Olympics reach their fundraising goal, which this year is the $1 million mark.
And a few...incentives, for those hesitant to dip their toes in the water. If a participant raises $100 to take the Plunge they'll receive an official Polar Plunge sweatshirt - and more incentives for higher fund-raising levels!
PLEASE NOTE: This is a separate event from the annual New Years Day Polar Plunge Swim in Lake George
Freezin'...For What Reason?!
Hundreds of people take the plunge each year in Lake George and at different locations around the state to raise funds for the Special Olympics New York. These daring participants help by showing their support for the Special Olympics and raising money for the organization. Many form teams and have fun with it.
